We all go through them. The days where you’re not even sure you can get out of bed, let alone drag your butt to the office and actually accomplish something. You’ve probably seen posts telling you how to get out of this funk (heck, we’ve even made a couple here and here) but do you know what causes you to procrastinate in the first place? Well, thanks to ProEssayWriter & HubSpot, we’ve found the top 7 reasons you’re shoving that task to the bottom of your “to-do” mountain.
7 Reasons You’re Unmotivated
If you still need a little more motivation to get you going, here’s a few great articles we found on LifeHack.org by Authors Matt OKeefe & Amy Johnson. They cover everything from how to boost yourself back up once you’ve already fallen down the rabbit hole to tips on how to break the bad habits that are keeping you from being productive in the first place!
Hi, Joshua.
You shared some fine points.
The last point caught my eye the most, about not seeing the point. I’ve noticed that a lot, and at times I’ve seen fit to change my strategy completely to pursue that end goal..
At times, the same thought concerns what my clients want me to do. I suppose it’s another way to assess whether the client is the right fit.
Thanks for sharing,
Nathan.
Hi Nathan,
Thanks so much for taking the time to read our blog and comment.
It can definitely be hard to see the point of it all, but thinking of the end goal helps a lot.
Hope you had a great weekend!
YES! Every single one of those applies to me. I need to find a way to get over them 🙂
Acknowledging them is your first step! 😉
Thanks for commenting!
This is great seeing as I am extremely unmotivated right now ha! I usually benefit from to-do lists. It makes me feel very accomplished when I cross things off as they are done!
Me too Ashley!
Thanks for reading 🙂
I’m definitely guilty of a few of these. I really don’t like doing boring things, hah but sometimes we have to do what we have to do.
Unfortunately, we all do Leslie! haha Hopefully some of these tips will help you out! 🙂
I get bored and I dont want to work. A cup of coffee or a walk seems to help me.
Definitely Tara, reset your brain a bit! 🙂
I am tired LOL That’s my #1 reason for being unmotivated 🙂
I think we can all relate to that one Rachel 😉
Great overview, tips and resources! Awesome blog post!
Thank you, Claudette! Glad you enjoyed it.
I saw myself in several of those – decision fatigue for instance. I’m easily overwhelmed by a big list.
That’s fair Liz! Maybe try making small lists, one for morning, one for afternoon etc? That might help 🙂
Or sometimes work is just too stressful (or your boss is). Lol. But kidding aside, these are true. Sometimes we really can’t get out of that loop and we need something fresh or maybe a little push.
Haha we should have put the stressful boss in there too, Elizabeth 😉
And we definitely agree with you on needing a push sometimes!
I have felt many of those reasons at various times in my life and depending on the project to be unmotivated.
Hopefully this gave you some tips for the future to keep you from getting unmotivated, Beth! 🙂
I’m guilty of “I’m tired.” These are all true. I will print this infographic, so it will serve as a reminder.
Great! We’re glad you enjoyed it!
I think we’re all guilty of some of these. I commit to ten minutes of doing something I don’t want to do and usually I end up completing it.
Often the hardest part is just starting, Jasmine 🙂
I am so guilty of number 1. Always afraid I will fail. But I am slowly but surely overcoming that fear! It sure has taken long enough. Lol
Haha You’ll get there Jolleen! It’s harder for some people than others, just keep trying!
Its like this info graphic is in my head!
Haha we thought the same thing when we saw it Shannon!
Mine ended up being medical, and hurrah it’s all better now. I was going through a checklist similar to this one though, trying to figure out what in the world was going on. 🙂
That’s great that you found the cause Rosey! This list could definitely help pinpoint why someone is unmotivated!
Thank you for these tips. One reason for me is am lazy especially working out. I missed it so very badly.
It can be so hard to just get started Jessica! As soon as you get over the first hump it gets much easier!
Number 2 – its too boring and number 4 Im too tired are my reasons / excuses! Great list!
It’s pretty accurate isn’t it Joely? I often use those two as well!
Love the visual and the tips. Definitely will be sharing.
Thanks Sacha! Glad you enjoyed it!
Great infographic! Love your last tip about not seeing the point. Can be really guilty of this one when i am doing things that are a priority for others or that I feel I have no choice on (of course we always do!).
Definitely Danii! I think considering why you’re doing it in the long run is a great way to look at it and see the bigger picture!
