Just this past Monday, in one 24 hour period, 1 billion people used Facebook. Let’s let that sink in for a moment. To better comprehend this massive quantity of people scrolling through their News Feeds, consider there are only 7.26 billion people on earth, 218.9 million people in the united states and only 35.16 million in Canada.
1 billion. IN A DAY.
According to Mark Zuckerberg (and I trust his math skills more than mine) this staggering number works out to equal 1 in 7 people on earth. To make matters even more impressive, consider the fact that the most population dense country in the world, China, (whose population is about 1.35 billion) has actually banned the use of Facebook. So in reality, this statistic is more like 1 in 3.
Zuckerberg is on a mission to connect the entire world via the most popular internet networking platform in the world (which he clearly proved to be true). Facebook continues to grow exponentially and isn’t looking to slow down any time soon. Way to take your own advice, Mark!
With this kind of influence, it’s safe to say that your business should be using Facebook. Whether you’re pitching a product, offering a service or even branding yourself, you’re not going to find a platform with 1 billion users per day anywhere else.
For those of you who were the odd ones out on Monday, here’s Zuckerberg’s post (on Facebook of course) sharing the mind-boggling news.
i was part of a group/directory on Facebook that created their own “platform” convinced that Facebook would no longer serve the members need. Well, I left the group as I know that is not true. You just have to keep at it until you break through the noise and find your niche. That is my belief.
Great insight Claudette! Zuckerberg seems very good at keeping his main goal in focus, and that’s probably why he’s so successful.
wow i knew Facebook had an incredible reach but one billion in 24 hours in insane. Facebook is my least favorite form of social media because of how clogged up my newsfeed is with things i don’t need to know. However, I know that from a growth stand point for my business I need to stay on there
